At the age of 13, Josephine Avery “Josie” Economy was a gifted artist. She created in many mediums, especially drawing, painting, watercolors, jewelry making, crafts, makeup, and cosplay.
She even designed a line of fabric to support the charity Quilts for Kids and enjoyed sharing her passion for makeup with her friends and followers on Instagram (SodaJoy404).
She built a community of friends wherever she went through her kindness and love of art, popular culture, and fun. Josie was a young and inspiring individual who left a lasting impact on the world of fabric design and charity.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2019, her resilience and creativity shone through as she channeled her talents into designing the Delightful Dreams Fabric Collection for QT Fabrics.
Her designs were not only bright and cheerful but also carried a profound purpose. Josie dedicated 50% of all profits from the sale of her collection to Quilts for Kids, a charity focused on providing comfort to children with life-threatening illnesses and children of abuse.
Despite her young age, Josie's work ethic and dedication to giving back to her community and hospital were remarkable. Her collection featured a variety of patterns and colors that encouraged people to engage in quilting, whether for personal enjoyment or charitable giving.
Josie's journey and her commitment to crafting for a cause became a source of inspiration for many. Despite facing personal challenges, she dedicated herself to giving back, particularly through her involvement with the Delightful Dreams Fabric Collection.
The collection included a tote panel, perfect for quick and thoughtful gifts, and was complemented by a range of QT basics designed to make a colorful statement.
This initiative not only showcased her creative talents but also supported charitable causes, reflecting her deep commitment to helping others.
Her legacy continues to contribute positively to their communities and to face life's adversities with courage and kindness.
Her legacy continues to inspire and spread joy through her artwork, even after her untimely passing in early 2024. SewEndipitous, the fabric shop associated with her father, honors her memory by continuing to promote her collection and support the cause she held dear.
Josie's story is a poignant reminder of the power of art and generosity to create a positive change and support those in need. Josie also cared greatly for her many friends. She touched countless lives with her contagious energy and joyful spirit.
A Friend Cash's words..."Josie was an amazing person and one of the most confident, funny people I´ve ever met. She gave me the confidence I have now to be who I am and to be fearless like her. She was and will always be an amazing role model and I am so sad she was taken so soon."
Josie lost her battle with cancer in early 2024 after a five-year battle with cancer but her memory continues to be honoured celebrating her and her artwork and putting more joy and color into the world.
